Let’s rewind a bit: Cegid was founded in 1983 by Jean-Michel Aulas who’s also been president of Olympique Lyonnais since 1987. CEGID stands for “Compagnie Européenne de Gestion par l’Informatique Décentralisée” (European Company for Decentralized IT Management). The company initially focused on developing business management software. In 2007, Jean-Michel Aulas sold Cegid to the Groupama group.
